ABOUT FOCAL EVENTS

FOCAL EVENTS

Focal Events Ltd started life as a very small 'one man' business, run alongside a full time job. As interest grew in gravel events, it became the full time job.

Over the years the business has expanded to include two directors and a team of staff who support our events throughout the year. This team of enthusiastic cyclists, gardeners, mechanics, foresters and health practitioners all help bring the vision to life on Event Day.

We have a full programme of events throughout the year, including one of the largest gravel events in Europe.

Our drive is simple: we only want to create events that we would want to do ourselves - and we want those events to be 'best in class'.

SUSTAINABILITY & COMMUNITY

Focal Events Ltd has been organising events for over 15 years, and we have observed the huge growth within the cycling - and more specifically gravel cycling - industry. With more people getting involved we need to be mindful of how this impacts on the beautiful surroundings that we come out to enjoy.

Our company is a contributor to '1% for the Planet', meaning we give 1% of our turnover to environmental projects. We are also a member of 'Trees for Life' where our support helps in the planting and regeneration of wild areas of Scotland.

As a business we are constantly looking at how we can support the local community and reduce our environmental impact. Wherever possible, we use local suppliers for food, catering and other infrastructure. This helps to reduce travel and ensures that local business benefits from the events.

We have removed the need for new plastic where possible - eliminating course marking tape and making sure our suppliers use recyclable or compostable products. Our feed stations are 'cup free' and we ask riders to use the water bottle that they have with them. And our courses are all 'swept' by members of our team post event to ensure that we leave no trace and that any litter is removed.

In this way, we hope to bring people into beautiful areas responsibly, ensuring they have access to some of our stunning countryside, whilst also minimising environmental impact at the local and global level.
